Solution:

Go to Start menu, click Run, type:
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
and click OK.

You should get the message, "DllRegisterServer in scrrun.dll succeeded".

If the computer does not find regsvr32, open an MS-DOS window, cd to \WINDOWS\SYSTEM and issue the same command, regsvr32 scrrun.dll, from the MS-DOS command line.

Run-time Error 430

Problem description:

When you attempt to open a Familia Family File, you get the following message:
Run Time Error 430
Class does not support automation or does not support expected interface
Solution:

Most probably, you need to update Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) on your computer. A Familia Family File is a database, and FamiliaBuilder uses MDAC to add and extract data to/from that file.
  1. Check what MDAC version you have. For that purpose you can download MS Component Checker from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/.

The downloaded file is called CC.exe. After the download, run it to unzip (e.g., double-click CC.exe). By default, it unzips to C:\comcheck. You will see there a file named ComCheck.exe. Run it and select "Perform analysis of your machine ... (default)". If the reported version of MDAC is below 2.5 (e.g., 2.1), then you need an upgrade.

  2. To upgrade MDAC, download the latest version from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/downloads/updates/, install it and try FamiliaBuilder again.
